Scientists around the world are working on developing cures for Brest cancer and many believe that an effective cure might be near.
Dr. Deborah Toppmeyer, the chief medical officer for Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, said that breast cancer is a complex disease and it has many subtypes within subtypes. However, she said that she has seen enough advances during the previous two decades that have raised hopes that a cure might be near.
Dr.Toppmeyer said, “It’s not something that’s going to happen in the very near future. But the more we better understand the enemy, the closer we’re going to get to understanding the war. We’re getting smarter. Surveillance is getting smarter and smarter.”
Many are marking the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and are organising major events to attract attention to the disease and raise funds to fight the disease. Scientists in research have said that they are making progress in the fight against breast cancer and are developing new therapies that may lead to an effective cure.#
They said that several therapies are available today that were not available earlier and scientists are now able to accurately identify the same cell mutations in different types of cancers, which is helping doctors choose more effective treatments for patients.
