PepsiCo is going to make its presence felt in a new industry, smartphone business. The company has been working with a licensing partner to carry out the work of marketing of the Pepsi smartphone.
It shall however, be noted that the company will not be manufacturing the phone itself. The phone will be sent to China for sale and the company for now, has no plans to sale it in any country. As per a report from Mobipicker, the company will reveal the phone at an event to be held on October 20 in Beijing.
It is considered that the phone will be called as Pepsi P1. It will be having features including a 5.5 inch 1080p display, 1.7GHZ MT6592 SoC, 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage. The phone will be boasting a rear camera of 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel front unit and having a 300 mAh battery.
The phone, which is expected to be sold for RMB 1,299 will be having Android 5.1 Lollipop. For now, it is not known that whether the phone will be offered in different colors. But it is being suspected that the base model will be shipped in white.
It is also being expected that Pepsi brand may also try its hand into mobile accessories. It has been seen earlier as well that legacy brands have given their names to products that have nothing to do with their original company.
