In an announcement made on Wednesday, Coachella music festival has revealed that it is adding a virtual reality (VR) experience for the festival this year. The Coachella music festival 2016 is scheduled to be held in Indio, California, from April 15 to 17, and from April 22 to 24.
Announcing that a VR version of the upcoming music festival will be made available this year, Coachella said that it has partnered with Vantage.tv for its first VR experience. Vantage.tv is a company which enables event organizers to provide VR content for the attendees.
In announcing the imminent availability of a VR version of the music festival this year, Coachella said that all the ticket-holders for the 2016 event will a get a custom VR headset – the Google Cardboard – for using it with the official Coachella VR app.
Coachella further added that the custom Google Cardboard headset for the attendees of this year’s music festival is being shipped out to them in the "welcome boxes" which contain their tickets for the event.
About the VR version of the music festival this year, Coachella said in a statement on its website: “Before, during, and after the festival in April, fans from all over the world can be immersed in performances from top artists, experience 360-degree panoramic experiences from around the festival grounds, and watch VR experiences created by other festival-goers.”
