Gigabyte announces miniature GTX 1080 graphics card
Continuing with its mission to minimize the size of its desktop graphics cards, Gigabyte has announced a notably small GTX 1080, dubbed GeForce GTX 1080 Mini ITX 8G. Gigabyte’s GeForce GTX 1080 Mini ITX 8G is merely 6.7 inches in length. Its length marks a decrease of nearly 5 inches than a regular GTX 1080 graphics card.
The new card has been designed to fit inside a mini-ITX case in order to provide a more portable desktop gaming manipulation.
The technology major is making use of a single 90mm fan for cooling that is paired with three copper composite heat-pipes. As the fan is semi-passive, it will automatically turn off whenever the GTX 1080 is not under a huge load.
Earlier this year, Zotac launched an 8.3-inch GTX 1080 Ti. However, that is more than an inch larger than Gigabyte’s GTX 1080. Now, the industry is waiting for Gigabyte to develop and launch a miniature GTX 1080 Ti that would be ideal for a handy VR gaming machine.
