Google Nexus 6 will get Android 7.1.1 update in Jan. 2017
According to a 9to5Google report, the Google Nexus 6 handset is scheduled to get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update in January 2017.
The Nexus 6 handset is the only Nexus device which has not yet received the Android 7.1.1 update; with the update having been rolled out to all the other Nexus devices. Since all the Nexus models older than the two-year-old Nexus 6 have got the Android 7.1.1 update, the users of Nexus 6 have been long demanding the rollout of update to their handsets.
The 9to5Google report has pointed out that even though the Motorola-manufactured, Android-powered Nexus 6 handset does not feature the latest technologies because it was launched two years back, the Android 7.1.1 update will apparently bring the same features to the handset as the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P handsets, and the new Pixel series.
As per the report, the Nexus 6 handset has not received the Android 7.1.1 update because of a bug detected by Google in the final stages of update development specifically for the handset.
The report has also revealed that the bug which has evidently caused the delay in the release of the Android 7.1.1 update to Nexus 6 will likely be fixed by Google by this coming January.
