Analysts predict sales of iPhone 6 to be ‘unbelievably massive”

With tech giant Apple reportedly set to launch its next-generation iPhone - likely to be dubbed iPhone 6 - in September, analysts are predicting that the new handset will apparently witness "unbelievably massive" sales.

The recent projections of the analysts with regard to the expected sales of the new iPhone have come against the backdrop of the fact that Apple has revealed in its April-June quarter earnings report that its iPhone sales saw a 13 percent increase year-on-year.

The disclosure about a surge in the iPhone sales during the reporting quarter took the analysts by surprise because, going by the precedent thus far, iPhone sales have usually plunged in the April-June quarter, as Apple characteristically launches new iPhone models in the third quarter of a year.

Meanwhile, so far as the projections of overwhelming demand for the iPhone 6 are concerned, Apple is reportedly coming up with two variants of the next iPhone - a 4.7-inch model which will likely be launched in September; and a bigger screen 5.5-inch 'phablet' model that will be released later this year.

Forecasting that a buying spree for the bigger-screen iPhone 6 will be triggered by the fact that there is pent-up demand for an Apple 'phablet,' Gartner analyst Van Baker said that Apple will "set the world on fire" with its new iPhone 6 model; and added: "There's a lot of pent-up demand among developed economies for a bigger iPhone. I think the iPhone 6 is poised to do extremely well."
