Apple poaches Tag Heuer’s top sales executive Patrick Pruniaux

Swiss luxury-watch maker Tag Heuer's top sales executives Patrick Pruniaux - the company's Vice President of Sales and Retail - has reportedly been poached by US tech titan Apple.

The reports about Apple having hired Pruniaux have come from 9to5Mac and Reuters, both of which have cited unidentified sources. In addition, a CNBC report released on Friday has also confirmed the move, on the basis of information shared by Jean-Claude Biver --- the head of watch brands at luxury-goods conglomerate LVMH, which counts Tag Heuer as one of its subsidiaries.

As per the reports, Pruniaux - who has been working at Tag Heuer for seven years - has been hired by Apple; though his position at the tech giant has not been revealed as yet. Pruniaux's last day at Tag Heuer will be Monday, July 7.

About Pruniaux's imminent departure from Tag Heuer to join Apple, Biver told CNBC: "If it had been a direct competitor, I would have felt a bit betrayed, but if he goes to Apple I think it is a great experience for him."

Meanwhile, Pruniaux is not the first executive to have been poached by Apple from the luxury-goods sector. Last October, Apple appointed UK luxury retailer Burberry Group's as head of its retail operations; and, prior to that, in July last year, Apple had hired former Yves Saint Laurent CEO Paul Deneve to work on special projects.
