South Africa Tourism opens Office in Lagos

South African Tourism has opened its first office in Nigeria to promote the country in Nigerian, Ghana and West Africa. Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk invited locals to visit South Africa and enjoy the hospitality and nature.

The regional office would be acting as a tourism hub in West Africa. Tourism in South Africa continued to grow despite recession. The country has a lot to offer. The government is also promoting eco-tourism.

More than 75,000 Nigerian tourists visited South Africa in 2013 and 73,000 in 2012. The number was nearly 14 percent higher in 2012 compared to 2011.

The tourists from Ghana were even more impressive, registering a growth of 24 percent in 2012. During first half of 2013, the tourism growth from Ghana was recorded at 27 percent.

South Africa has a lot to offer to tourists. Cape Town is famous for its scenic beauty, food and nightlife. Kruger National Park attracts millions of visitors from Africa and Europe. The country is also promoting wine tasting holidays. Tourism department will offer in-depth information on various tourist destinations in South Africa.
