Uber announces complete overhaul of its app
On Tuesday, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick announced a major redesign of the Uber app, revealing that the app has been overhauled completely to focus on speed as well as efficiency.
The announcement of the redesigned version of Uber app -- marking the most substantial update rolled out to the app since 2012 -- came at a Tuesday press briefing held by the ride-hailing company at its upscale headquarters in San Francisco.
The worldwide rollout of the overhauled Uber app has commenced with effect from Wednesday, November 2.
Asserting that the redesign of the Uber app, which unfolds significant changes for Uber users and not drivers, is "not just a normal update," Kalanick said at the press briefing: "This is a radical redesign and rebuild of the app from scratch."
According to Kalanick, the changes underscoring the overhauled Uber app are basically intended to offer a much cleaner and streamlined interface, shortcut options to everyday destinations, and less confusion around which service to request.
Overall, the redesigned Uber app comes with a number of noteworthy improvements, including a faster app-loading time, increasingly efficient passenger pickups, and a customized user experience.
