Samsung unveils new Galaxy Tab S tablet with Super AMOLED screen

At its Tab into Color Event in New York City on Thursday night, South Korean device manufacturer Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Tab S tablet in two variants - 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch screen sizes. The cost of the 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S tablet will begin at $399; while the 10.5-inch model of the tablet will start at $499.

With the letter `S' in the name of Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S tablets standing for Super AMOLED screen, the tablets herald the next-generation tablet models boasting high resolution, high contrast, and vibrant colors.

Since the new sleek and slim Galaxy Tab S tablets - which are just 6.6 millimeters thick - are apparently set to challenge the Apple iPad Air, the premier event in New York largely had Samsung talking about the new tablets' sharp screen with 2560x1600 resolution.

Other than the highly impressive display, both the new Galaxy Tab S tablets come with the option of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz Quadcore processor or an Exynos 5 Octa 1.9 GHz QuadCore and 1.3 GHz Quadcore processor. Both the models also feature 8 megapixel rear camera; 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera; and Android Kitkat OS.

Noting that Samsung is "setting the industry bar higher for the entire mobile industry" with the launch of its two variants of Galaxy Tab S tablet, JK Shin - CEO and President of Samsung Mobile - said: " It will provide consumers with a visual and entertainment experience that brings colors to life, beautifully packaged in a sleek and ultra-portable mobile device."
