Samsung set to enhance its tablet offerings with two new Galaxy tab S tablets

Electronics major Samsung is adding two new Galaxy Tab S tablets - 8.4-inch and 10.5-inchmodels - to its tablet lineup. The two new tablet offerings by Samsung underscore the company's attempts to strengthen its foothold in the tablet arena.

Set to hit the markets in July, the 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S tablets will respectively be priced at $399 and $499. Both the new Galaxy Tab S models will be available in two color options --- Dazzling White andTitanium Bronze.

Lighter and thinner than the Apple iPad, the two new Galaxy Tab S tablets will be equipped with 2560x1600 resolution Super AMOLED displays; andExynos 5 Octa processor for Wi-Fi models and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor for LTE models.

Some of the other features of the Galaxy Tab S tablets include 3GB RAM; 8-megapixel rear camera; 2.1-megapixel front camera; Android OS version 4.4 KitKat; optional LTE connectivity; and 16GB or 32GB onboard storage option, with microSD expansion.

Other than the different screen sizes, the battery of the two Galaxy Tab S models will be different too. While the 8.4-inch model will feature a 4,900 mAh battery; the bigger 12.5-inch model will have a larger 7,900 mAh battery.

About the new 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S tablets, JK Shin - CEO of Samsung Electronics' Mobile Division - said that both the new tablet offerings from Samsung are "setting the industry bar higher for the entire mobile industry."
