Samsung’s future flagship smartphones will be available only in curved screen models
The Korea Herald has said in a recent report that bigwig smartphone manufacturer has decided that its future flagship handsets will feature only curved screens.
The disclosure implies that, for Samsung, flat screens are apparently set to become a thing of the past, at least in so far as its future flagship devices are concerned. The company made its curved-screen policy quite clear with its potentially explosive and now-discontinued Galaxy Note 7 handset, and reportedly plans to follow that policy in 2017 as well.
According to The Korea Herald’s report, Samsung’s next flagship handset – the Galaxy S8 – will be available in only curved screen variants when it launches next year. As such, the Galaxy S8 will be the first Samsung Galaxy S handset to do away with a flat screen completely.
The report has further revealed that the screens of both the 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch models of the Galaxy S8 handset will have curved edges similar to the company’s current flagship, the Galaxy S7 Edge model.
In addition, the report also highlighted the fact that the forthcoming Galaxy S8 handset will boast an all-screen display; and will have a screen-to-body ratio greater than 90 percent.
