Samsung India in talks with companies to promote new Galaxy handsets

Smartphone manufacturer Samsung – the leading smartphone vendor in India – is apparently betting heavily on its new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones to drive its sales to companies. Moreover, Samsung is also hopeful that the two new Galaxy handsets will also help it grab a bigger market share in the premium handsets market.

Samsung’s key competitors in the Indian market are US tech giant Apple in the high-end smartphone market; and handset makers like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava at the middle-to-lower ends.

To offer more substantial competition to its rivals, and to give a noteworthy boost to its smartphone sales in India, Samsung is already in talks with nearly 150 companies to promote its new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets.

About Samsung’s efforts to promote its new Galaxy handsets to companies to drive its overall sales in India, Anuj Kumar Jain – SVP of Enterprise Business at Samsung India - told ET: "Companies are currently evaluating and doing PoCs (proof of concepts)."

Asserting that small and medium businesses (SMBs) – with not much stringent processes for mobile device management deployments - will probably adopt the new Galaxy smartphones quickly, Jain said: "The latest Galaxy S6 is 50% faster than its predecessor S5and works on 30% lower power, which increases the productivity sought by enterprise customers."
