Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook

Barnes & Noble, in partnership with Samsung, announced the new Galaxy Tab 4 Nook device on August 20. The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is priced at $179 for retail sale, thanks to a promotional discount.

Though the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook was perceived to be a low-cost entry in the fiercely-competitive tablet arena, the early reviews of the device are somewhat disappointing, especially due to its sluggish performance and low resolution.

The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is a 7-inch device, with 9.74-ounce weight and 0.35-inch thickness. With most of the features of Galaxy Tab 4 Nook being largely the same as those of the Nook HD, the new device boasts a 3-megapixel back camera; a 1.3-megapixel front camera; 1.5 GB RAM; Wi-Fi; GPS; and Bluetooth.

Available in two color options - black, and white -, the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook runs the Android OS version 4.4 'KitKat' and has 8 GB of onboard storage capacity. The device also comes pre-loaded with a complement of Barnes & Noble apps.

Noting that the processing power of Galaxy Tab 4 Nook betas that of the Nook HD, Barnes & Noble CEO Michael P. Huseby said: "The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is the most advanced Nook ever, delivering the great Nook experience our customers have come to love, with the high-performance tablet features they've asked for."
