Microsoft and SAP partner to bring SAP’s cloud-based HCM software portfolio on Azure
On Tuesday, October 18, US software giant Microsoft and German business software biggie SAP announced a new partnership, under which SAP’s cloud-based human capital management (HCM) software portfolio will become available on the Microsoft Azure public cloud in the near future.
The announcement of the new partnership by Microsoft and SAP underscores the first time that SAP’s infrastructure is being supplemented and SuccessFactors HCM is being run on a third-party cloud.
In announcing their partnership, Microsoft and SAP revealed that SuccessFactors HCM will become accessible on Microsoft's public cloud by joint customers in the next five years. SuccessFactors is an online human resources software provider which was acquired by SAP in 2012, in a $3.4 billion deal.
About the newly-announced Microsoft-SAP partnership, Judson Althoff -- Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of worldwide commercial business -- told eWEEK that the partnership deal reflects “Microsoft's long history of understanding of the enterprise world.”
Meanwhile, about SAP’s selection of Microsoft as a public cloud partner, Mike Ettling -- President of SAP SuccessFactors -- said: "We wanted a public cloud partner that has deep experience with enterprises and offers a highly scalable environment. Microsoft has focused on scalability and reliability for global, enterprise clients."
