Leftists remind lawmakers of significance of science

Thousands of leftists took to the streets in Washington D.C. and several other parts of the nation on Saturday to remind lawmakers of the significance of science for health and prosperity.

Renowned scientific revolutionary Bill Nye, a holder of mechanical-engineering-degree who got famous as a children’s TV presenter, served as a keynote speaker at the “March for Science” event.

Addressing a big crowd, he said, “We are marching today to remind people everywhere, our lawmakers especially, of the significance of science for our health and prosperity.”

Cara Santa Maria, the famous host of the “Talk Nerdy” science podcast, expressed similar views.
She said the very idea of evidence, logic and reason was being threatened by individuals and individual interests with the power to do real harm to science.

Nye was of course standing up to defend budget increases for federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is interesting to note here that the trump administration recently proposed significant cuts for various science programs.
