Interstellar attracts seven million Viewers in South Korea

Director Christopher Nolan's science fiction movie, Interstellar, was premiered on October 26, 2014, in Los Angeles and released worldwide. The movie features some astronauts who travel through a wormhole in search of a new habitable planet. The film attracted moviegoers from the very first day of its release.

Not only science lovers, but people who do not know anything about science praised the film and Nolan's idea. On Tuesday, a market tracker said that the film had attracted more than 7 million moviegoers from South Korea. According to the data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the film has become the fifth most-viewed movie in theatres of South Korea.

The top four movies that have been most-viewed by Koreans are: Roaring Currents, Frozen, The Pirates and Miss Granny. As per KOFIC's data, Nolan's 'Interstellar' has grabbed number two spot after Korean historical flick 'Roaring Currents', which has been viewed by 17.61 million watchers.

According to industry experts, 'Interstellar' is still attracting moviegoers and it will easily surpass 8 million around this weekend. More than 64% of box-office tickets have been reserved for Tuesday's shows.

The film features Hollywood stars like McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, who could been portraying astronauts. According to the data report, the film has attracted more than 200,000 people on its November 6 opening day and surpassed one million mark on its third day. It has crossed 3 million mark on its eighth day.

The film has managed to stay at number one spot in South Korea's official weekly box-office ranking for third week in a row. The film is ruling the box office in various countries since last three weeks.
