Global warming isn’t hoax: Chinese minister says
The notion of global warming is not a hoax as suggested by president-elect Donald Trump, China’s Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin argued.
Zhenmin said that science and history don’t support Trump’s suggestion that global warming or climate change is a hoax produced by China.
It may be noted here that Trump has repeated called the notion of global warming a hoax. In 2012, he wrote on Twitter that China created the hoax of global warming to harm the United States’ competitiveness.
Defending China at a news conference, Liu said, “If you look at the history of climate change negotiations, actually it was initiated by the IPCC with the support of the Republicans during the Reagan and senior Bush administration during the late 1980s.”
Trump has repeatedly raised doubt on the science behind manmade global warming and climate change. He argues that global warming is naturally occurring.
Meanwhile, leaders representing nearly 195 countries are meeting in Morocco for climate talks, amid concerns that Trump can remove the United States from last year’s Paris Agreement that aims to keep global warming well-below 2 degree Celsius by cutting manmade carbon emissions.
