General Motors to unveil ‘Teen Driver system’ on 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

General Motors will unveil its 2016 Chevrolet Malibu in early April at the New York International Auto Show. According to the auto major headquartered in Detroit, the new car is for those parents who are worried about handing over the car keys to their teens.

The company announced on Friday that the car will have a new Teen Driver system, which will allow parents to keep an eye on their children while driving. The system will give parents a report card of their teen's trip.

In addition, the system will give an audible and visual warning to the driver if the car travels over pre-set speeds by parents. Radio volume can also be set to a lower level that it cannot be exceeded, as per the company.

General Motors said that it is the first company in auto industry which allows parents view on display of car how their teen drove the car. The new system will tell parents the distance the car was driven and the number of speed warnings.

MaryAnn Beebe, GM safety engineer, said, "We developed this system so parents could use it as a teaching tool with their kids - they can discuss and reinforce safe driving habits".
