Facebook messages can now be officially sent to President Obama

In a highly noteworthy announcement made via a press release on Wednesday, the White House said that people can now officially send private messages to President Barack Obama through the White House's Facebook page.

Revealing that Facebook’s Messenger messaging tool can be used by people for sending private messages to President Obama, the White House said the Facebook messages will be included in the communication which is considered for the 10 personal letters that are read by the President each day.

In an announcement of the availability of the new Facebook messaging feature for people to send private messages to President Obama, Jason Goldman – the White House’s chief digital officer – said in a press release that the new feature essentially unfolds a way for the administration to "meet people where they are" online.

Revealing that Facebook’s new messaging feature relies on a Messenger chatbot which simulates a conversation but does not give response to questions directly, Goldman – who created the chatbot together with the White House’s product management director Joshua Miller – said that the feature basically enables users to send feedback to the administration.

In reference to Facebook’s new messaging feature, Goldman said: “Face-to-face time is a little harder to come by these days, but technology makes it possible for anyone with an internet connection to send a message to the President and his Administration.”
