China to continue to increase defence spending

According to the government of China, the country will continue to increase defence spending but it will maintain stability.

Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun indicated that the country is following a responsible arms sales policy and affirmed that the country is following relevant international laws. The spokesman made the announcement during a monthly news briefing on Thursday following some concerns that China is significantly increasing its arms trade. A media report said that the defence trade as risen to the fifth highest in the world.

Reports showed that China has delivered a PLA offshore patrol ship. China has sold over 20 different vessels to nations across the world. Military controls have also risen significantly in recent years amid rising concerns in the media. Chinese Defense Ministry has maintained that the country is following a responsible policy.

"China has always adhered to the principle that arms exports should not impair peace, security and stability of regions or the world at large. And does not interfere with the internal affairs of the recipient countries. China's arms sales have abided by the relevant UN resolutions and international laws," says Yang Yujun, spokesman of Chinese Defense Ministry.

Rear Admiral Yin Zhuo, director of Chinese Navy Information Technology Advisory Committee said that China's arms exports accounts for a small per cent of the global military trade and it is unfair to criticise a country for that.
