In a Thursday announcement, BlackBerry said that its free BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) app is now available for the users of Windows Phone devices; with Nokia users next in line to receive the app.
According to the announcement made by BlackBerry, the popular BBM app will be available as a free download from the Windows Phone Store this summer. The availability of the BBM app on Windows Phone will potentially make BlackBerry's messaging service more appealing to enterprise clients.
The BBM app was earlier available in the Windows Phone Store as a private beta app; and was subsequently made available to Windows Phone users who had signed up for the BBM Beta program.
Along with announcing the availability of the BBM app on the Windows Phone platform, BlackBerry also said in its Thursday announcement that the BBM app for Nokia X will be available from the Nokia Store when the Nokia X platform is launched.
In reference to the availability of the BBM app on Windows Phone, Bryan Biniak - Nokia's VP and General Manager for Developer Experience - said: "We are intent on bringing the most popular application experiences to Windows Phone, and with BBM, we are pleased to bring many of its top features to the Windows Phone platform."
