Apple’s iOS 8.0.2 update allows developers to publish HealthKit-enabled apps

Apple’s iOS 8.0.2 update allows developers to publish HealthKit-enabled apps

With Apple having updated its mobile software to version iOS 8.0.2 on Thursday, the much-touted HealthKit feature of iOS 8 is finally up and running now; with compatible apps available for download from the App Store.

Despite the fact that Health was one of the key features of the iOS 8 update, Apple had - in an eleventh-hour decision - delayed the launch of HealthKit apps when it rolled out the iOS 8 version a few days back.

Though Apple soon released the iOS 8.0.1 version to fixed HealthKit issues and allowed app developers to upgrade their apps with HealthKit integration, that software update was quickly pulled by the company, after reports that the update was causing serious problems for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users.

However, after the quick release of iOS 8.0.2 version has fixed the issues being reported by the users of the two new iPhone 6 models; and developers can now, finally, publish their HealthKit-enabled apps.

According to a9to5Mac report, one of the first health-related apps to make its way to the App Store on Friday was FitPort. The app is capable of tracking several health and fitness parameters, and can also sync with iOS 8's Health app.
