Apple releases developer preview of iOS 10.2

Close on the heels of the iOS 10.1.1 public release on Monday, tech biggie Apple announced the rollout of a developer preview of iOS 10.2. The latest beta release can now be downloaded from Apple's developer webpage or directly through Software Update onto test devices.

The iOS10.2 beta software released by Apple is a huge 1.78GB download package, which marks the addition of full Unicode 9.0 emoji, including a total of 72 emojis which the Unicode Consortium had approved in June this year.

Along with the new Unicode 9.0 emoji, the iOS 10.2 developer preview version comes with a number of other noteworthy new features which Apple is bringing to the iOS.

Some of these new features include three new wallpapers, a new 'Preserve Camera' settings option for the Camera app, a new Videos widget to show videos from the users camera roll in the Lock Screen, and a new 'Press and Hold to Speak' menu beneath the Home Button Accessibility settings to allow users to choose between Siri, Voice Control and Off.

In addition, the iOS 10.2 developer preview version also brings along a new 'Celebration' screen effect for the Messages app, a new 'Show Star Ratings' option under the Music menu, and a new headphone icon in the status bar for Bluetooth audio devices.
