Apple: All new watchOS apps should be native apps starting June 1

In a post published on its website on Friday, tech giant Apple has announced an upcoming requirement for developers who want to submit new watchOS titles to the App Store.

Apple said in the post published on its website: "Starting June 1, 2016, all new watchOS apps submitted to the App Store must be native apps built with the watchOS 2 SDK [software development kit] or later."

According to the announcement, all the new watchOS titles which are submitted by developers to the App Store should, with effect from June 1, 2016, be native apps developed with the help of the company's latest watchOS 2 software development kit.

The forthcoming requirement that all new watchOS apps should ne native apps by June 1 underscores an evident effort by Apple to give a notable push to its wearables platform, as well as to address launch complaints related to sluggish third-party apps.

The new requirement will essentially affect software development for Apple's Apple Watch smartwatch, making it mandatory for developers to build apps which have the capability to access the Internet over Wi-Fi, not merely a local iPhone.
