Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 --- an impressive low-cost, high-quality handset

Alcatel has recently announced the launch of its latest low-cost handset --- the high-quality One Touch Idol 3. The handset is sold exclusively unlocked by Alcatel for merely $250; and can be used on any carrier compatible with the AT&T or T-Mobile LTE network in the US, as it supports quad-band GSM, HSPA (850/900/1900/2100MHz), and LTE (Bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17).

The budget-friendly new Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 handset is a pricey-looking statement device; boasting a classy, minimalist and well-executed physical design. The handset has an all-plastic construction which is accentuated by a subtle, brushed finish on the back and astute use of faux-metal accents.

The 4.96-ounce One Touch Idol 3 handset is an affordable as well as impressive mid-range device which measures 6.01 by 2.96 by 0.29 inches (HWD). The handset is quite sleek and light for its slightly big size.

Some of the key specifications of the One Touch Idol 3 handset include a stunning 5.5-inch, full HD LCD screen; a quad-core, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor; 2GB RAM; a Sony-manufactured 13-megapixel camera; and 16GB of onboard storage capacity, with a microSD card slot to add up to 128GB of additional storage space.

The One Touch Idol 3 handset runs Android OS version 5.0.2 'Lollipop;' and its connectivity options include dual-band 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and GPS. The handset has an acceptably average battery life.
