By 2020, Ericsson Aims to Have a Networked Society

Yesterday, Technology Company Ericsson announced to bring 50 billion connections all over the world. With such an aim, it outlined its vision of having a “networked society” by 2020. As stated by the company, these mobile connections will be between machine-to-machine, mobile handsets and other devices.

The company stated “In this networked society, people, knowledge and information are connected for continuous transformation, driven by collaboration and creativity”.

Head of Ericsson sub-Saharan Africa, Lars Linden also said that with the help of key pillars including cloud, mobility and broadband, the company will achieve success in its planet-covering phenomenon, which is happening because of ICT.

As told by Ericsson, by getting the necessary assets to leverage, the company has already initiated its process for networked society. This includes several applications, networks and chip bases.

But then at the same time, though the company already has the ecosystem in place, still it cannot achieve its vision alone and thus seeks for effective partnerships. Therefore, to achieve the networked vision, and for working along industry players, it has started reaching out to partners who can help it enable its aim.

For brining some of its development and research to SA, Ericsson is also discussing the matter with the Department of Science and Technology.
