According to an Autonews report, recently-released documents by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have revealed that nearly 883,000 Sonata mid-sized sedans are being recalled by Hyundai Motor Co. in the US and Puerto Rico.

The Sonata sedans affected by the recall announced by Hyundai include vehicles from model years 2011-14. About the reason leading to the recall of the Sonata sedans, the NHTSA documents have revealed that the recalled vehicles have a potential defect in transmission-shift cable which can increase the risk of a crash.
