Ryanair pilots may have to delay holidays

Ryanair is planning to make its pilots delay a week’s holiday as it is struggling to cope with massive flight cancellations, CEO Michael O’Leary announced.

O’Leary made the announcement at Ryanair’s annual general meeting that took place recently in Dublin.

The Ireland-based airline is cancelling 40-50 flights daily, and the situation will like remain as it is for the next six weeks. The airline also admitted it “messed up” pilot holidays’ planning.

An Irish homeowner discovers Huge Arachnid in His Home in Cork

Gavyn O'Donovan, an Irish homeowner, has shared a number of images and videos of a large spider that he found in his house in the south of the country. While speaking to the Sunday World, he said that the huge arachnid was discovered in his kitchen at his home in Cork.

The 37-year-old from Cork city added that the spider was nearly the size of his hand, and had another smaller spider along with it. Mr. O'Donovan mentioned that he has no idea regarding what species it could be, but has guessed it to be cardinal spider or a wolf spider.

Recovery time may be reduced for patients who take the cholesterol-lowering medications popularly known as statins after surgery, according to a new study from researchers at Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Statins are commonly used medicines to control high cholesterol levels and researchers are examining the other benefits of statins in different conditions like in organ transplantation and severe infections. It has also become one of the most prescribed medication in the world, with high number of users in Europe and Asia, added the study team.

A Pembrokeshire-based marine conservation group was able to spot giant fin whales in the Celtic Sea. Sea Trust along with Stena Line conducted a ferry-based survey between Rosslare in Ireland to Cherbourg in France.

Cliff Benson, Sea Trust Director, explained about the species they got to see on the route. They came across a large group of feeding fin whales. While talking about seeing the whales, Cliff Benson, Sea Trust Director, said they feel to be quite lucky as the weather was not so favourabvle.

Generally, graphene is difficult to produce and the current best techniques in labs results in formation of less than half a gram per hour.

But, now researchers have found a way to mass-produce pure graphene in the kitchen by making use of soap and a blender. They put graphite powder and a solvent fluid in a laboratory mixer for spinning. It was later analyzed with an electron microscope.
