California jury holds its line on $119.6 million damages award to Apple

On Monday, the eight-member jury panel in San Jose, California, more or less stuck to its last-week verdict in the high-profile Apple-Samsung patent-infringement case. The jury had, in its Friday verdict, ordered Samsung to pay an amount of $119.6 million in damages to Apple.

However, Judge Lucy Koh had found that the jury's verdict needed to be fixed because of a missing royalty amount due to Apple for a Samsung smartphone which had been found to have violated Apple's patents.

Judge Lucy Koh asks Apple-Samsung jury to fix its recent ruling

On Friday, the eight-member jury panel hearing the latest Apple-Samsung patent-infringement lawsuit gave its verdict in the case, ordering Samsung to pay nearly $120 million in damages to Apple for violating its patents --- a fraction of the staggering $2 billion amount which Apple was seeking in damages from Samsung.

However, even after announcing its Friday verdict, the task assigned to the jury is not yet over, because the jury-members have not awarded any damages for one product and one patent which it had found Samsung to have violated.
