A new study asking "Am I Normal?" analyzed penis size for 15,000 men and it reveals that a majority of men think that they have it smaller than average. According to experts, it is a perceived distortion of masculinity.
Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, associate clinical professor of urology at Harvard Medical School and founder of Men's Health Boston, has discussed with CBS about his latest book, "The Truth About Men and Sex: Intimate Secrets from the Doctor's Office".
It has been informed that the book explores male insecurity in the bedroom and also denies various common stereotypes of men being 'selfish' in bed. According to Morgentaler, behind closed doors, men are more worried about their capability to be provider for their sexual partners.
Morgental said they have thought that men are very simple but they are in fact complicated, interesting and scared about size of their penis and bedroom performance. Morgentaler said that it in reality men have talked with him in his urology practice. Men also have deep insecurity regarding their 'sense of masculinity'.
He also said that various men are hindered by general physical problems like erectile dysfunction and other problems to good sexual performance. It has been also said that various men's 'sense of masculinity' and their capability to be a good partner is significantly increased at the time his partner says to him that was great.
The question asked by men across the world: 'Am I normal?' was analyzed by researchers for a parallel new study from King's College London. A small association between height and penis size has been found by the researchers.
From the study: "The nomograms revealed that the average length of a flaccid penis was 9.16 cm [3.6 inches], the average length of a flaccid stretched penis was 13.24 cm [5.21 inches], and the average length of an erect penis was 13.12 cm [5.165 inches]".
It has been also revealed that the average flaccid circumference was 9.31 cm [3.66 inches], and the average erect circumference was 11.66 cm [4.59 inches].
