1st Great White Shark Spotted at Cape Code

First great white shark has reached the Cape Code and was spotted on Saturday, revealed the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. The conservancy has named the shark as 'Ping'.

The female shark having length of 12 feet to 15 feet was spotted by the plane. After knowing about the shark, three conservancy board members approached it in a boat. The area, where it was spotted, was one-quarter a mile from Nauset Beach on the Orleans shoreline.

"Three conservancy board members approached the shark from a boat about one-quarter of a mile from Nauset Beach on the Orleans, Massachusetts, shoreline", says a report by Associated Press.

This year's official shark sighting has come two weeks earlier when compared with last year. Ping is now being studied for Massachusetts Shark Research Program.

The news of great white shark is surely going to make people think twice as whether or not they should take a plunge in the water. A number of people would have thought to enjoy swimming, but it seems that it would not be going to be that way in at least this part of the world.

The sighting coincided with the report from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that stated that great white shark population is increasing again after years of decline. People termed the reports of huge white sharks seen at Nauset Beach in Orleans as rumors.

But the whale sighting and videos and photographs of huge white sharks have proved that the reports were true.
