Tracbeam Sues Apple over Patents Related to Siri and Maps

Colorado-based Tracbeam has sued technology major Apple for infringement of four patents. Tracbeam has alleged that Apple has violated its patented technology in location tracking used in Macbooks, in personal assistant Siri, Safari browser and Apple Maps.

Tracbeam owns several patents related to location tracking and mapping in wireless systems. Tracbeam has also blamed Apple for using its technology in "Find My Phone" service and iAds network.

Tracbeam has raised the issues related to US patent #8,032,153, 7,764,231, 7,298,327 and 7,525,484. As Tracbeam has patented technologies related to location tracking, the company has filed lawsuit against Apple in services or products that use location tracking.

The lawsuit has been filed in the Texas Eastern District Court.

In the past, Tracbeam has filed lawsuits against AT&T, Google and T-Mobile as well.
