Experts have said that taking a work break early at mid-morning is more beneficial to the health than a conventional lunch break.
In a new study, researchers found that a break earlier in the day replenishes moreenergy, concentration and motivation than lunch breaks. They study also showed that frequent short breaks are better than longer breaks. They found that people who often took timely breaks have good health and increased job satisfaction.
They found that as more time passed in the workday, fewer resources and more symptoms of poor health were recorded by the employees after the break. Thus, they noted that the break after much time in the day is less effective.
Emily Hunter and Cindy Wu, associate professors from a university in US conducted a survey and as participants to document the breaks they took during that time. Breaks were defined as 'any period of time and might beformal or informal. The breaks included break for lunch, coffee, personal email or socialising with co-workers and not breaks for bathroom. They survey included a total of 95 employees aged between 22 to 67 years during a five-day work-week.
She said, "Finding something on your break that you prefer to do, something that is not given to you or assigned to you, are the kinds of activities that are going to make your breaks much more restful, provide better recovery and help you come back to work stronger."
