Rumors galore about Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Mini handset

There have been a number of rumors making rounds of late about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini handset, which will likely challenge HTCs newly-announced HTC One Mini 2 device. Rumors about the Galaxy S5 Mini have gathered momentum over the past few days, especially after the announcement of the Galaxy K Zoom (Galaxy S5 Zoom).

According to an earlier report from GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini handset will be a low-end Android-based smartphone which will have nearly the same design as Samsung's current flagship, the Galaxy S5 handset.

However, the target market of the Galaxy S5 Mini will be notably different from that of the Galaxy S5. While the Samsung Galaxy S5 is aimed directly at the business and corporate users; the Galaxy S5 Mini will probably be aimed at the entry-level market comprising first-time Android users as well as students.

About the Galaxy S5 Mini's features, several BGR reports have asserted that the handset will have a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with HD (1280 x 720) resolution; a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset; a quad-core CPU of undisclosed frequency; 1.5GB of RAM; an 8-megapixel rear camera; and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The handset will have 16GB of on board storage capacity, with microSD card slot for storage expansion; and will run on Android OS 4.4 'KitKat' version out of the box. The handset will also have the standard connectivity functions like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS.
