A team of experts have said that if the wing fragment found in the western Indian Ocean indeed belongs to the missing Flight 370 of the Malaysian airlines, other parts could well be floating in the Indian Ocean.
An Australian expert in aircraft design said that the discovery of the pieces of a plane on Reunion Island in the previous week may mean that other pieces are also floating in the ocean. John Pageat the University of New South Wales in Australia said that he believe that the missing Boeing 777 broke up when it hit the water about a year and half earlier.
He said that the main body of the plane might have sunk but other smaller parts might be still afloat. He pointed out that objects attached to the wings and tail including flaps, elevators, ailerons and rudders might still be floating. He added that pieces might be floating but there are little chances that they will reach islands and even if someone sees them in the ocean, it is unlikely to get notices as there is a lot of trash in the ocean.
Meanwhile, the pieces foundon Reunion Island have been taken to France for examination. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished in March 2014 while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people aboard.
