Ohio Twins Born Holding Hands are Back Home

A photo of this pair of Ohio twins holding hands when born went viral online. Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite born under rare circumstances are now released from hospital for home.

On May 9, the twins were born at 33 weeks with shared amniotic sac and placenta at Akron General Medical Center. This condition is known as monoamnioitic or mono mono. The condition affects about one of every 10,000 pregnancies.

Jenna is elder one born at 4 pounds, 2ounces and Jillian arriving in less than a minute later at 3 pounds, 13 ounces.

For almost a month, the twins were in the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit. Both of them are healthier and have gained optimum weight and now are around 6 pounds. On Saturday, they were given a discharge from the hospital and are now at their home with their parents and big brother, Jaxon.

Sarah Thistlethwaite is happy to have her twins back at home. "It was really stressful - you want to pay attention to the little one at home and you just gave birth to two little babies", said Thistlethwaite.

Thistlethwaite, a 32-year-old eight-grade teacher, shared her twins have a unique bond. She shared that when she feeds them, they gradually gets closer to each other. Thistlethwaite's mother said her mother, grandparents and her husband's grandparents came to their place on Saturday night to welcome the twins. Thistlethwaite said they feel amazing that they have been able to get their babies back home.
