Mass production of next-gen Apple iPad reportedly underway

Unidentified sources familiar with the developments with regard to Apple's imminent next-generation iPad tablets have revealed that the mass production of the new iPads has been commenced by Apple suppliers.

According to the sources, Apple suppliers have already begun the production of the next-generation full-sized iPad with a 9.7-inch screen. The new iPad is likely to be unveiled by Apple either by the end of this quarter or at the beginning of the next quarter.

However, as per one of the sources, the production of the full-sized iPad may be restricted by manufacturing complications, arising because of the use of a new anti- reflection coating of the tablet. The new coating is being added by Apple to make the display of the tablet easier to read.

Meanwhile, so far as the 7.9-inch iPad mini is concerned, sources claim that the next-generation version of that model is also set to enter production. The availability timeline of the new iPad Mini is projected to be 'end of the year.'

With Apple apparently banking on the new iPad models to counter its plunging iPad sales of late, RBC Capital Markets' analyst Amit Daryanani said: "The weak spot for Apple has been the tablet market a refresh could stabilize the iPad's revenue and profitability contribution to the company."
