FIFA Criticizes Nigeria’s Coach for Making Homosexuality Comments

On Wednesday, the governing body of Football, FIFA has criticized Nigeria coach Eucharia Uche for making homosexual comments. She admitted that she has forced lesbians out of her team.

The controversy was started in a New York Times interview before the women's World Cup, which started last Sunday. During her interview, she called homosexuality 'dirty' and insisted that it was 'spiritually and morally very wrong'. She also said that the lesbians in the team are a big problem.

She added, “Homosexuality is an everyday thing and I came to realise that there is not a physical cause, we need divine intervention to control it and fight”.

The FIFA's Head of Women's Competitions, told German television channel ARD that FIFA is against all forms of discrimination. Haenni has said that they will be taking Uche to governing bodies statutes because of her comments.

She added that FIFA would be talking to Uche about her comments and will remind her about the coach of FIFA’s laws. She added that Uche has to be ethical in her comments and every member of the team has the right to express themselves.
