Facebook’s new service allows advertisers to track shopping habits across device

In a blog post published on Wednesday, social network Facebook said that it is rolling out a new cross-device service which will enable advertisers to keep a track of the shopping habits of Facebook users.

With the help of the new service, advertisers will be able to know where a particular product promotion was first viewed; and also when the promotion prompted a user to purchase a product. The service will allow the advertisers to track users between their electronic devices.

According to the details shared by Facebook in the blog post, the new cross-device service will give the advertisers the ability to see the total number of Facebook users who clicked on any particular advertisement.

In addition, the advertisers will also be able to know whether the users used a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer for clicking on the ad; and which device they finally used to buy a product.

Since Facebook has been perking up its advertising services because they contribute immensely to the company's revenue and profit, the new cross-device service has evidently been launched to prove that mobile ads can lead to purchases, irrespective of whether or not those purchases are actually made on a smartphone.
