Amazon CEO unveils the company’s new ‘Fire Phone’

In a move which marks online retailer gain Amazon's foray into the fiercely competitive smartphone arena, the company's CEO Jeff Bezos has recently unveiled the first Amazon handset --- the `Fire Phone.'

The Amazon Fire Phone is smaller than most of the Android handsets currently available on the market; but is bigger than the Apple iPhone. The screen of the handset measures 12cm diagonally which, according to Bezos, is the perfect screen size for single-handed use.

Online retailer Amazon is reportedly set to plunge deeper into the competitive mobile-device arena, with the launch of an Amazon-branded smartphone - which, as per rumors, will be equipped with some kind of 3D motion sensor - later this month.

Hinting at the imminent unveiling of a smartphone, Amazon said in a Twitter post last week that it is holding a 'product launch' event in Seattle on June 18. The company said that the event will be hosted by CEO Jeff Bezos.
