San Francisco-based Uber Technologies Inc. has confirmed that its President Jeff Jones has resigned from his position, deepening turmoil at the ride-hailing company.

Jones resigned and parted with the company just around seven months after assuming the role. He said he had joined the company because of its mission that would help it mature and thrive long term.

Google’s self-driving car unit Waymo has expressed concern that Uber Technologies’ internal counsel could steal a look at secret documents that it filed under seal in connection with its lawsuit against the ride-hailing company.

Waymo filed the lawsuit on 23rd of February, alleging that Uber’s laser sensor technology for self-driving cars is based on data stolen by its former engineer Anthony Levandowski, who is now working for Uber.

A team of MIT researchers claimed to have developed a robot that can change its actions almost instantly by takings its cues from human brain waves.

Daniela Rus, the director of the Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT explained that the new robot uses new algorithms that enable it to monitor brain activity for specific signals.

Rus added that the new technology could lead to a future where humans will be able to control robots easily by merely observing their actions.

In a Friday report, Taiwanese news outlet ePrice has disclosed that HTC forthcoming handset – the HTC Ocean Note phablet – will probably not feature the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Ocean Note phablet will be introduced by the HTC, along with the Ocean Master and the Ocean Smart devices, on January 12, 2017. The phablet, which will likely become available for purchase on January 28, will come in three color option --- Black, White, and Blue.

In a move which underscores a potential effort by bigwig automaker Hyundai to up its fuel game, a Nikkei report -- via Motor Trend -- has revealed that the automaker is planning to bring about a substantial increase in range for its hydrogen-powered Tucson, the company’s five-seat crossover.

According to the report, Hyundai is working on a new fuel cell SUV which will apparently have the capability to offer up to 30 percent more range as compared to its predecessor.

On Wednesday, Senator Al Franken released the letters received from ride-hailing services Uber and Lyft, in response to his November open letter in which he had asked the two companies to address racism on their platforms.

Senator Franken’s open letter, published on November 2, 2016, was addressed to Uber CEO, Travis Kalanick and Lyft CEO Logan Green. The letter essentially drew attention to the fact that a study released earlier this year had documented the racial discrimination faced by ride-hailing passengers.
