SAA Order 25 Aircrafts

An order for 25 new aircrafts has been made by South African Airways (SAA) in hopes to increase the penetration in the African market. Over the next four years, Africa will expect the various ranges of aircrafts.

The SAA also plans to include addition routes to make operations more broad. This is in part to improve Africa’s footprint. This new increase in aircrafts means an increase in job opportunities. There will be at least 13, 000 new jobs created as well as 40, 414 jobs in their associate supply chains.

IATA Chief Lashed Out at Regulator over Acsa Tariff Hike

Launching a scathing attack on the regulators of being monopolistic, Giovanni Bisignani, Director-General and Chief Executive of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has criticized the step taken by the regulator to increase the tariff structure of Airports Company SA (Acsa) and Air Traffic and Navigation Services by 129% and 71% respectively from 2010-20 15.

Moreover, Acsa has appealed for a legal action against the regulator for a tariff rise of 190% instead of 129% for the five-year period.

Mango Airline Drafting Policies to Stretch Operations

One of the most economic airlines, Mango, has drafted policies to broaden the area of its operations to Johannesburg's Lanseria Airport with three flights a week to and from Cape Town. The company has forecasted about the proposal, yesterday and said that it is expected to be operational from July.

The CEO of the Mango Airline, Nick Bezuidenhout, said that the new route was derived from the airlines growth strategy. In order to promote the new route, the airline has planned to offer 15,000 tickets just for R495 one way to Cape Town during this month.

Quantas A380 aircraft saved from disaster by its crew

While the crew of the Flight QF32 started reconfiguring the damage of the A 380 aircraft making it prepared for landing in Singapore they were bringing in superjumbo without many of its systems which they thought were functioning as only one engine of the aircraft was functioning properly.

According to one report of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau released yesterday only the number three engine was functional having reverse thrust. There were no leading edge slats, only limited spoiler control and aileron was there and the anti-skid braking was also restricted.
