Discovery of Two New Risk Regions Associated with Bipolar Disorder

On comparing genetic sequencing of 9747 patients with 14,278 healthy people, two novel gene risk regions on the DNA associated with bipolar disorders have been discovered by researchers. One gene risk region is ADCY2 on chromosome five and another is MIR2113-POU3F2 gene on chromosome six.

A total of five risk regions on the DNA associated with bipolar disorders have been reported by researchers till now. Rest three risk regions including ANK3, ODZ4 and TRANK1 have already been discovered by researchers in previous studies.

Physicists Discover ‘Quantum Droplet’ having very short Lifespan

Physicists Discover ‘Quantum Droplet’ having very short Lifespan

‘Quantum droplet’, also called as quasiparticle, is a novel particle which has been successfully generated by physicists in Germany and the United States. Quasiparticle, made up of approximately five electrons and five holes, has the property to condense into liquid-like droplet in very short-time.

Physicists have conducted this experiment by exciting a gallium-arsenide semiconductor with an ultrafast laser emitting about 100 million pulses per second. But, the interesting fact is that ‘quantum droplet’ has lifetime of only about 2.5 billionth part of a second.
