Water on Earth probably came from Asteroids and not Comets: Study

Researchers working with Rosetta's ROSINA instrument have revealed in a study that water being released into space by comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko has differnet chemical fingerprint than water present on earth.

The researchers concluded that the water on earth has not come from comets. There are chances that it might come from asteroids. One of the aims of the scientists involved with Rosetta project is to know from where the water on earth came from.
